APOSTOLIC THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE
UPC of Mizoram high command Executive Committee resolution no 7 (meeting held on 26th November - 5th December, 1996) decided to establish and organise short Course Bible School, a place for Ministers to take training. The duration was agreed to be for two months per year. The Short Course Bible School Committee (SCBS) was also constituted, and the first leaders were appointed under one accord.

The first committee was held at Mizoram UPC, Office located at Chaltlang on 19th February, in which discussions and decisions were made regarding the date of commencement and its period, textbooks to be prescribed and approved, faculty and responsible persons to prepare the textbook, including steps to be taken for the upgradation of the SCBS. Initiatives were taken with substantial efforts to fulfil all the resolutions that had recently been passed. By the fall of 2nd June, 1997, Registration Day was observed at the residence of Mr Ch.Ngura (L), the house of Durtlang Chief on a lease agreement at that time. The first class, commenced on that day at Durtlang Mual veng consisted of 31 students and 4 teachers. After having been in the course for about two months, two students got their graduation degree by the end of the session and Graduation Day was conducted on 21st July, 1997.
As per the resolution made by the Executive Committee, it was named Short Course Bible School (SCBS). But as time passed by, it was then changed later as " Mizoram UPC Bible School " on 8-10 March, 1997, in accordance with the resolution no 13 of the 9th Executive Committee. Therefore, as per the consent obtained by resolution no 10th of the 5th Assembly held on 9 - 12 December in the year 1999, the resolution no. 1 of the 24th Council held on 20-01-2000 had acknowledged, affirmed and adopted the name as Apostolic Theological Institute ( ATI) till this date.

LOCATION:
The resolution no. 18 of the 9th Executive Committee held on 8 - 11.March.1997 felt good in deciding the purchase of land for the construction of a building because the building occupied was under a lease agreement at that time. In accordance with resolution no. 8 passed by the 10th Executive Committee held on 26 -27 June 1997, the plot belonging to Durtlang Primary School- II, located in the vicinity of Mr. M Suaka, the Chief of Durtlang was purchased from Mr.Ramthanga of Chanmari, Aizawl. The Land Settlement Certificate was then replaced by the name of Mizoram UPC on 12-12-2021, and the LSC No 1021/01/06/37 of 2021 had also been redeemed on the same date. The area of land was 3.37 bighas and will be validated for a period of 25 years. It will expire in the year 2046.
Certificate:
As per the resolution no. 1 of the ATI Board Meeting held on 18-07-1997, anyone who graduated from this Institute were confered Diploma Certificate. But, the resolution no 3(2)14 of the ATI Board Meeting held on 6 - 7 December, 2016 approved the Graduate in Theology to confer to any concern. As time went on, the Bachelor of Theology has been conferred since 2025, following the resolution no 2 of the 194th ATI Board Meeting held in 2025.
