In the year of 1950, when United Pentecostal Church was formed in Mizoram, instantly Sunday School Department was established. The first Superintendent of Sunday School Department was Pastor Saizinga and later in 1969, Rev. Saihnuna replaced him and became the head of department. Then, the post of Superintendent became rotational for a fixed term.

The second Sunday of January is pronounced as Sunday School Day, not because of the established day but for the day of campaigning the importance of Sunday School, lecturing awareness for the lecturer for the improvement and better good for the School.

Since the re-establishment of United Pentecostal Church in 1995.

Its Position and Resposibility :-

1. General Assembly is the highest authority of General Sunday School Depatament
2. The General Sunday School Board should be held atleast once in a year.
3. To organise a study of Bible for the Church
4. It will take steps for the developtment of Sunday School
5. Its should draft a budget
6. The Agendas from Officials and Sections should be sealed by the Chairman and Secretary.

Aims and Objectives:-

     1. To emphasize on the characteristics of a true believer.

     2.  To teach on how to worship God to the people.

     3. To developt the Church properly towards maturity.

     4. To teach and preach the true Gospel.

     5. To teach people to be a good citizen.

The Importance of Sunday School :-

1. It protects the people from false Doctrine and teachings.
2. It provides spiritual food for the Church.
3. It is an important material for the unity among the Church.
4. It promote people to minister for the Kingdom of God.
5. It is a good exercise of a christian life for the believers.

Sunday School Award :-

1. Rev. Dr. Saihnuna Award ; - Those who attend the Sunday School without absent for Five years should be awarded with this Award. This should be counted from the year 2018 ( Excluding the covid Pandemic in the years 2020 &2021)
2. Rev. R.A Dover Award :- Those who attend the Sunday School without absent for 10 years should be awarded with this Award. This Award should be counted from the year2018.  (Excluding the covid Pandemic in the year of 2020 & 2021)

Aid for The Constuction of Sunday School Hall :

1. How to apply for the aid for the construction of a Hall -     
2.  a)  Local Church Committee or the Sunday Scool Board can Apply.
3.  b) There should be the names and signatures of the Chairman and Secretary.
4.  c) It should also be sealed.
5.  d) The recomment of the Pastor is a must.
6.  e)  Executive board can add if neccessary.

 The amount of aid :- The amount should be fixed by the General Sunday School Board or the Executive Board.

Entitle to apply for aid : - Preaching Point or the Local church that have the students of Sunday School are entitled to apply for the aid.

Distribution of Aid : - In accordance to the Executive Board distribution should be arranged.
